A wireless Bluetooth connection is available as a backup option if you are experiencing problems with the wireless access point. Prerequisites • You must have an existing DATSS system with a computer Processor Unit. • Your DATSS Processor Unit must have a free Ethernet port (you can also use an Ethernet switch). Context The provided wireless access point allows the tablet to connect via Wi-Fi to the same local area network as your DATSS Processor Unit. A Wireless Access Point B Ethernet cable C PoE (Power over Ethernet) adapter and power cord D DATSS Processor Unit 901-80047051/2.0 17 Simrad DATSS Operator Panel Instruction Manual Procedure 1 Connect an Ethernet cable from the Ethernet port on the bottom of the wireless access point (!) to the provided PoE (Power over Ethernet) adapter’s PoE port (A). 2 Connect an Ethernet cable from an Ethernet port on the DATSS Processor Unit to the PoE adapter’s LAN port (B). 3 Connect the power cord to the PoE adapter’s power socket. 4 Connect the other end of the power cord to a standard electrical wall outlet (110-240V AC power socket). Observe that the LED light on the wireless access point turns green. 5 Connect the tablet’s power cable and plug the other end into an electrical outlet. Note Do not plug the tablet’s power cable into a USB port on your computer. The tablet will not charge through the computer’s USB port. If you disconnect the power cable during operation, the Remote Control App will lose its connection to the Processor Unit and you will need to set up the Ethernet connection again. 6 18 To complete setup, go to the procedure Configuring an Ethernet connection. 901-80047051/2.0 Installing the wireless access point and tablet Further requirements If you experience any issues using Wi-Fi to connect to the DATSS Processor Unit, you can try connect via Bluetooth.
