Configuring Command for MOS Redirection
• If there are graphic channel groups, they will be displayed after the channel group set in the
MOS Channel.
In this example, the channel group omAB is set in the ENPS MOS Channel, Dekohyb is a graphic channel group. All three are defined in the system settings in Command.
• Users can assign an individual item to a different channel group by changing the MOS
Channel in the rundown rather than the rundown properties.
If the rundown MOS Channel is set when the rundown is MOS activated, the item will keep its channel designation. The rundown MOS Channel will not override the rundown’s MOS
Channel.
• Users can easily switch to a different channel group for a MOS Active/Ready to Air rundown by opening the rundown properties and entering the new MOS Channel. Before the change is made in ENPS, the operator must unlock the current channel group in Command, and then lock the updated channel group after the change is made.
n
If you plan to use MOS Channel to change the channel group for any MOS Active rundown, you need to define channel group in the MOS Channel field for all rundowns. If the MOS Channel is not defined when the rundown is MOS activated, the MOS Channel needs to be set twice to make the change happen.
Configuring Command for MOS Redirection
Command sites that interface with the ENPS newsroom computer system can run two MOS
Communication services and set the second one to have a different MOSID so that MOS redirection can be used to send playlists to the backup server. The purpose of MOS redirection to allow users to load the ENPS rundown to the backup Command Server in the event of a primary server failure. It is the equivalent of loading an iNEWS rundown to the backup server, but this workflow requires a little more configuration.
To configure Command for MOS redirection:
1. In ENPS, configure the primary and backup Command MOS IDs.
2. Click the Start button and select Programs > Avid > Service Framework > Avid Service
Configuration.
3. On the Hosts tab, navigate to and select the Avid MOS Communication Service running on the backup server.
4. Enter the MOSID for the backup server.

You can test MOS redirection at any time; it does not require the primary server to be down.
To confirm MOS redirection functionality:
1. Make a rundown MOS Active and Ready to Air, confirming that it appears in the Command
Workstation.
2. Open the rundown’s Properties dialog box.
3. Deselect the MOS Control Active checkbox.
4. Click Apply.
5. In the MOS Redirection text box, enter the group name followed by an equal sign (=) and the MOS ID for the backup server. The syntax is: <group name>=<backup MOS ID>
6. Select the MOS Control Active checkbox.
7. Click Apply and then Go.
8. Confirm that the rundown appears in the Command Workstation.
When you need to direct MOS traffic to the backup server, disconnect from the primary server and connect to the backup server via MOS redirection in ENPS.
For instance, enter avid=enps.command2.mos
in the MOS Redirection field, then check
MOS Control Active, and click Go. The sample equation tells ENPS that any device in the rundown starting with “avid” should get redirected to the MOS backup system with the
MOS ID of “enps.command2.mos”.
n
Avid recommends the MOS Redirection steps be posted in the control room so that users can reference them quickly. It’s also recommended you do a MOS redirection periodically to practice the steps.
For more information, see documentation that came with your third-party ENPS system.
