ATTENTION:
The Wireless Connectivity Module needs to have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth configured for use to communicate with the printer.
The printer by default is set to operate on a Wi-Fi network or Ethernet LAN with DHCP used for personal networks. The network automatically provides a new network IP address each time the printer is turned on. The Windows printer driver uses a Static IP address to connect to the printer and is usually used in controlled networking environments. See

Media Handling Options
Use these easy-to-add media options to modify the printer to your media needs.
The printer will verify any hardware changes and configure the printer as needed during restart.
• The printer will not detect Media Roll Core Size Adapter addition or changes.
• These media options do not require removal for normal operation and cleaning.
• ZD Series Cutters are self-cleaning by design and do not require internal cleaning with the use of Zebra media and supplies.
NOTE: You should not remove and replace Media Handling Options as a general practice. Only remove for repairs.
CAUTION—ESD: The discharge of electrostatic energy that accumulates on the surface of the human body or other surfaces can damage or destroy the printhead and other electronic components used in this device. You must observe static-safe procedures when working with the printhead or the electronic components under the top cover.

• Remove the media roll from the Media Roll Holder.
• Disconnect the DC power plug from the rear of the printer.
• Remove any interface cables and USB devices.
Tools Required:
Upgrade kits come with a common T10 hexolobular Allen-style wrench.
IMPORTANT: You should not remove and replace connectivity modules as a general practice.
IMPORTANT: The printer will verify any hardware changes and configure the printer as needed during restart. For optimal printer performance, update the printer’s firmware immediately after
on page 144.
The standard Tear option bezel is removed the same as other media handling printer options.
1.
Turn the printer upside down. Remove the two mounting screws.
2.
Slide the bezel along the front of the printer about 12.5 mm (0.5 in.) towards the printer base. Pull the loose bezel straight out the front of the printer.

Media Roll Core Size Adapters
This option kit modifies the printer to use media rolls with larger inner roll core diameters.
The media roll adapters option kit includes the screws to attach them. The kits are for the following inner diameter media cores:
• 38.1 mm (1.5 in.)
• 50.8 mm (2.0 in.)
• 76.2 (3.0 in.)
Adapter Usage
• The adapters are intended to be permanently installed in the printer.
• Adapters may be changed to support other media roll sizes.
• The adapters may loosen if they are changed too many times.
• Remove any debris from the media roll bay before placing a new media roll.
Installing Media Roll Adapters
1.
Each roll holder gets one adapter.
57
Installing Hardware Options
2.
Place the adapter onto the roll holder.
3.
Attach the adapter to the roll holder using a screw.
4.
Tighten the screw until there is no gap between the adapter and the roll holder. Do not tighten beyond this point. Over tightening will strip the thread.
5.
Repeat for the other adapter and roll holder.

Installing the Battery into the Attached Power Base
Describes how to add the battery to the battery base attached to the printer.
IMPORTANT: The printer must have an Attached Battery Base securely installed to the printer to keep it from damaging the printer or battery.
IMPORTANT: Batteries are shipped in Shutdown Mode for safety and to keep the battery from discharging during storage and shipping. The battery requires charging prior to initial use with the printer.
1.
Disconnect the printer’s external power supply from the DC Power Input located in the rear of the printer.
2.
Slide the battery into the battery base’s battery slot. Push the battery into the base until the battery pack is flush with the rear of the battery base, and the connectors on the battery pack are engaged with the ports on the back of the printer. The battery latch (1) locks the battery in place.
1
3.
Attach the printer’s power supply to the battery to wake up the battery from Shutdown Mode and begin its initial charge.
61
Installing Hardware Options
4.
Charge the battery. The battery must be fully charged before its first use.
See
Battery Indicators and Controls
on page 37 to learn how to:
• Turn the battery on.
• Discover battery charge-saving features and behaviors.
• Check the battery’s charge level and health.
5.
The printer will take approximately two hours to reach a full charge. The battery status (health) indicator
(lightning bolt) will go from Amber (Charging) to Green (Charged)
