Narrowband Data Proxy (NDP) 10 - 3

Overview

These screens set up the TekTerm Server to work with mobile devices running applications that use Narrow

Band Data Proxy (NDP).

The client application that runs on the mobile device can make use of all the hardware and software features of that device. The client application uses the APIs described in the NDP (Narrow Band Data Proxy) Developers

Guide

to open and close the connection to the TekTerm Server, and to send transmissions to the TekTerm

Server.

A plugin is required on the TekTerm Server to control the flow of data between the host application and the client application. The client application on the mobile device uses the NDP APIs to communicate with this plugin. The plugin also communicates using TCP/IP with the host application. In effect, the TekTerm Server plugin relays data between the host application and the client application.

You have two options for this plugin:

• Use a standard plugin downloaded from Ingenuity Working.

• Write a custom plugin.

You must copy the NDP plugin onto the TekTerm Server, as well as any other files that the plugin requires.

The unique name of the host.

Default: Unnamed Host

When selected the host task is started when the TekTerm Server starts.

Emulation and protocol combination for this host.

Select: Narrowband Data Proxy

Terminal number range that communicates with this host.

Range: 1 to 3840. For S900L range is 1 to 50.

Default: 1 to 32

Numbers on the General Host Options Screen”

When selected, TekTerm Server assigns terminal numbers to all mobile devices that use this session.

When not selected, terminal numbers must be assigned on the mobile devices.

Default: Selected.

NOTE

It is recommended that Auto terminal number assignment is selected.
