Configuration
From the Device Server Display
There are a limited number of configuration settings that can be made from the Device Server display. These are presented in this section.
The bulk of the Device Server Configuration is done using the Configuration Tool. For details
see Configuring the Device Server using the Configuration Manager .
To Configure a Server Handle
Use this procedure to configure the Global Server Number (must be unique on the network) for the main Device Server.
IMPORTANT: For correct connection of devices and clients, configure the Server handle first from the Device Server side. Once done, it can then be changed from the Configuration
Manager Tool.
1. From the Device Server main menu select File > Server Handle. The Server Number dialog is displayed.
2. Use the spin arrows to specify a Global Server Number. (This number must be unique on the network.)
3. When finished select OK.
To Configure an Alternate Handle
In an environment utilizing Cloning, an Alternate Server handle (Global Server Number) must be configured for the backup, or “clone” Device Server
Note: This option is available only when a customer has purchased a Cloning build of the
Device Server.

To Configure TCP/IP Socket Listening Port
In an environment utilizing a Remote Air Client, this option is used to configure the Device
Server’s “listen port” (TCP/IP Socket Listen Port). This parameter allows the operator to control the TCP/IP port on which the Device Server receives a connection request from another application.
Use this procedure to configure the TCP/IP for WAN addressing.
1. From the Device Server main menu select File > TCP/IP for WAN addressing. The
TCP/IP Networking Properties dialog is displayed.
2. Use the spin arrows to specify a TCP/IP Socket Listen Port. The Default value for the
Device Server port is 10052. It’s not recommended for the user to change this value.
3. Possible reasons for changing this value are:
• The user has another service running on this port and cannot change the server listen port for this service.
• A firewall prohibits connection to this port and the setting cannot be changed for some reason.
4. When finished select OK.
