Web Release Station is an application that allows the user to log on to a web-based Release Station. Each printer using this feature requires a web-based release license. Users can access the web page from their workstation, their laptop, or a conveniently located public workstation near a release printer. Web Release Station provides a simple user interface to select and access documents held on a secure print queue.
Mobile Web Release is an application that allows users to use smartphones or tablets to initiate print jobs that are currently held in a secure print queue. Mobile Web Release provides a simple user interface to select and access documents from a mobile device.
This chapter provides information about:
• configuring printers for Web Release Station
• changing the look and feel of the Release Station interface
• using the Web Release Station interface to select and release documents from the print queue
• using Mobile Web Release to select and release documents from the print queue using a mobile device

Chapter 17: Using Web Release Station & Mobile Web Release
Configuring Printers for Web Release
Before documents can be released from the print queue using Web Release Station or Mobile Web Release, the printers must be configured in System Manager. Use System Manager to create an embedded device for each printer used by
Web Release Station or Mobile Web Release device. Each printer using Web Release must have a Web-based Release license.
To create a Web Release embedded device, do the following:
1
2
In System Manager, go to Devices.
Right-click on the physical device in the right pane, then select Add embedded device from the list.
3
4
5
6
Select Web Release from the Type drop-down list.
Enter a Name for the embedded device. This is a required field, and an error message appears prompting to specify a device name if you click OK without naming the device.
The Description for the embedded device is automatically populated with the physical printer’s name. This can be changed as desired.
Select the Server hosting the DCE associated with the embedded device from the drop-down list.
CAUTION: By default, the local DRE server name appears in the Server field. If you are creating printers on multiple
DREs, you must select the DCE Server in order for the printers on all DREs to appear in Web Release Station or through Mobile Web Release.
7
8
From the Prompt for billing code drop-down list in the Behavior section, select if the device requires a billing code to release print jobs.
If Default is selected, then the Prompt for billing code at job release (at copiers) selection in System Manager >
Configuration > User interaction > Session flow
is used at the Web Release Station.
Click OK to save the settings.
A Web Release embedded device can be added to a physical device that already has an existing embedded device or single function terminal (SFT) associated with it. However, if multiple users attempt to release print jobs to the physical device at the same time, then the user logged into the embedded device or SFT will have their jobs released before the jobs that are sent via Web Release.
NOTE: The I- Queue Printer needs to be set as the default printer for jobs submitted though the Web Print
functionality of Web Release or Mobile Web Release. I-Queue is not installed by default, and this feature must be selected when installing DRE on a DCE server to use with Web Release.

Chapter 17: Using Web Release Station & Mobile Web Release
Using Mobile Web Release
Mobile Web Release is a mobile-optimized view of Web Release Station that allows users to use smartphones or tablets to initiate print jobs that are currently held in a secure print queue. Typically, users release their documents when physically standing at the printer. Mobile Web Release allows users to release a print job from any location using
Equitrac’s Follow-You Printing functionality, and then walk up to the printer to retrieve their documents. Any mobile device capable of connecting to the organization’s WiFi network through a web browser can use Mobile Web Release.
To Mobile Web Release, you must have the following:
• A Web-based Release license per device being used for Mobile Web Release. For more information, see
Licensing
on page 36.
• A smartphone or tablet that is capable of connecting to the secure print queue through WiFi.
• Connectivity to Internet Explorer v10 (or higher), Mozilla Firefox v30 (or higher), or Windows Mobile 8.1.
• If using QR code scanning, a camera that can scan QR codes.
QR Code Scan (Optional)
You can create a QR (Quick Response) code that allows users to access Mobile Web Release more quickly. If a QR code is displayed on a particular printer, the user can scan the code using their camera-equipped smartphone or tablet, and be directed immediately to the Mobile Web Release login screen.
To set up QR code scanning, do the following:
1
Create a QR code: a
Obtain the URL for the printer that will use the QR code. Typically, this is the IP address of the DCE server, followed by the printer’s unique identifying information.
For example: https://<DCE server>:2939/webrelease/index.htm?printer=<myprinter>
NOTE: The URL is case-sensitive, as the <myprinter> value consists of the URL encoded name of the printer as it is
displayed on the Mobile Web Release “Select Printer” page. The displayed name has the form [<dre server>:]<webrelease embedded device name>. To URL encode the name, all spaces are represented by ‘+’ characters and all non-ascii characters are represented in hex %hh format.
2 b
Create a QR code based upon the URL. Any QR code generator available on the Internet or through applications will work.
Print out and display the QR code on the associated printer.
Any device that scans this code from the printer is directed to the Web Print Release login page for that printer.
