The JCS 1200 alarm panel module consists of the following components:
■
■
Serial connector—This DB-60 connector provides direct access to the serial ports on each of the 12 Routing Engine bays. Use this connector to attach the optional serial port breakout cable and connect up to 12 local consoles.
Telco alarm connector—The alarm panel module provides one DB-15 connector
(male) for critical, major, and minor telco alarms. Each of the alarms has a relay that enables multiple system alarm indicators to be daisy-chained together.
■
LEDs—The alarm panel module contains seven LEDs. Table 8 on page 13

JCS 1200 Fan Module Description
The JCS 1200 platform comes with four hot-swappable fan modules for cooling redundancy. The fan module speeds vary depending on the ambient air temperature within the JCS 1200 platform, which is reported by the media tray. If the ambient temperature is 77° F (25° C) or below, the JCS 1200 platform fan modules run at their minimum rotational speed. If the ambient temperature is above 77° F (25° C), the fan modules run faster, increasing their speed as required to control internal
JCS 1200 platform temperature. Each fan module contains two fans operating as a pair in a series. If one fan fails, the remaining fan runs at full speed and continues to cool the JCS 1200 platform. Replace a failed fan module as soon as possible to restore cooling redundancy.
NOTE: While the JCS 1200 is operating, remove only one fan module at a time.
Removing two fan modules might cause the JCS 1200 platform to overheat. If you remove two fan modules while the JCS 1200 platform is operating, the management module powers off all Routing Engines.

Serial connector—Use this connection to configure and manage the JCS 1200 components over a serial line through the management module CLI. This connector provides local access to the CLI and any Routing Engine. For example, you can connect a notebook computer to the serial connector and a terminal emulator program to configure the IP addresses, user accounts, and other management settings through the CLI user interface. See the JUNOS Protected
System Domain Configuration Guide for more information.

The JCS 1200 platform provides 12 bays for Routing Engines. A Routing Engine is a hot-swappable independent server with its own processors, memory, storage, network controllers, operating system, and applications. The Routing Engine is installed in a bay in the JCS 1200 platform and shares power, fans, switches, and ports with other
Routing Engines.
NOTE: JCS 1200 Routing Engines can be used only on the JCS 1200 platform.
The Ethernet controllers on the Routing Engine communicate with the network through the Ethernet-compatible switch modules on the JCS 1200 platform. Network signals to and from the Routing Engine are automatically routed to a same-network-interface switch module through circuitry in the JCS 1200 platform.
