Operations to perform during the development phase 2
____________________________________________________________________________
2.1
Declaring the VISUDYN function
Once VISUDYN is installed, the dialogue application must be defined (1 to 4) as well as the type of target machine (TSX PCM, CCX 77FP or PC compatible). Refer to the
PL7-MMI 37 manual section 3.1 : Selecting the target machine.
Once the selection has been made, the VISUDYN function must be declared in PL7-MMI
37 and configured. The files generated are transferred to the target machine (TSX PCM,
CCX 77 or PC compatible).
Declaration is necessary for the VISUDYN function to become an option which is recognized by the PL7-MMI 37 development software. To do this :
• Pull down the Utilities menu from the main PL7-MMI 37 screen and select Add
options which displays the list of options available
• Select the VISUDYN option, which then appears in reverse video
• Validate the selection.
_____________________________________________________________________
2.2
Configuring the VISUDYN function
This operation enables :
1 Generation of a local symbol database which will be transferred to the memory of the target machine so that it can be used by the VISUDYN function. The only symbols which will be selected are those that have the criterion DIAGPCM in XTEL-SDBASE.
2 Create indexed cross-reference tables.

Operations to perform during the development phase 2
____________________________________________________________________________
2.2-2 Preliminary operations
Before configuration, check for :
• The presence of the cross-reference files : PL7_3.XR1 (PL7 objects),
PL7_3.XR2 and PL7_3.XR3 (OFBs) and PL7_3.XR4 (remote I/O) generated by the PL7-3 function.
• The presence of at least one object allocated a mnemonic symbol by
DIAGPCM, generated by XTEL-SDBASE.
Caution
In V5, these cross-reference files must be saved in PL7-3, under the name : PL7_3
(PL7_3 default option). Ensure that their version is up to date in relation to the application to be diagnosed loaded in the PLC. Otherwise the configuration operations for the VISUDYN option will have to be repeated.
_____________________________________________________________________
2.2-3 New configuration
To start the configuration operation :
1 Run PL7-MMI 37 on the selected station.
2 Pull down the Create menu in the main PL7-MMI 37 screen and select the

3 Using VISUDYN
___________________________________________________________________________
3.1
Running VISUDYN
VISUDYN is run automatically like any other function.
During the initialization phase, it "learns" the PL7-3 application and therefore reserves the PL7-3 application for the entire duration of this phase. This is indicated by the following messages :
• "initialization of the memory configuration in progress" ...
• "initialization of the memory manager in progress" ...
(refer to Appendix A).
Comments
If the ACTIVE message appears in the "status" column of the Run Manager
(RUNMGR) screen, VISUDYN has already been initialized.
Initialization is complete when the Active message is displayed in the Status column of the Run Manager (RUNMGR) screen.
Note
Initialization cannot be performed if another program has already reserved the PL7-3 application.
In this case, attempting to run the program will fail and the message "Cannot reserve" will be displayed in the Run Manager (RUNMGR) screen. The user will therefore have to cancel the reservation of PL7-3 then run VISUDYN from the Run Manager (RUNMGR) (refer to the description on how to run VISUDYN in the foreground).
Running VISUDYN in the foreground
VISUDYN becomes a task in the MONITOR 37 application and is loaded in the target machine. There are four ways to run VISUDYN :
1
From the ALARMS function, when the list of alarms is displayed. The following operations must be performed :
• Use the Select command in the menu assigned to the <F4> BANNER function key
• Select the required alarm
• Press <F12> to run VISUDYN on this alarm.
2 From the DIAG function, when displaying and animating an equation (in Ladder or
Literal language). To do this :
• Display the screen which shows a list of equation objects
• Select the object to be accessed using VISUDYN
• Use the [S6 = Disp-obj] menu, then the [S2 = Disp-Program] menu to run
VISUDYN on this object.
3 From the Run Manager screen, after ensuring that no other program has already reserved the PL7-3 application. To do this, depending on the status of the task, perform the following operations :
If the task is Inactive :
• Select VISUDYN from the list
• Press <F5>

3.2
Screen levels
The VISUDYN software has four levels of display screen :
1 Display of program addresses using three methods :
• From the list of all program addresses in the PL7-3 application
• From the selection of an object (eg bit B1) which will provide a list of all the program addresses containing this object (if it exists!)
• From the log list of objects selected by the user.
2 Selection of a program address from three types of screen :
• Display and selection of tasks, modules and elements programmed in the PL7-3 application
• Display and selection of the list of all program addresses that contain the selected object
• From the log list of program addresses scanned by the user.
3
Display and animation of the equation at the program address selected above (eg

XTEL-SDBASE (DIAGPCM criterion) [S4 = Information].
Comment
If an "operate" block is selected, this screen displays, in real time, the phrase in Literal language contained in the block.

3.7-2 Literal language equation display screen
This screen can be accessed from the program reference screen for a selected
object or from the program address selection screen. The Literal phase is displayed in the upper part of the screen and the objects contained in the phrase are animated in the lower part. For each object, this screen indicates the display base, the value in real time and, if available, the mnemonic symbol (when explicitly requested by the user). The symbol and comment for the selected object are displayed above the list of objects.
[S1 = Ref_object] Accesses the program reference screen for the object highlighted by the cursor. This screen automatically lists all program addresses containing the selected object.
[S2 = Base] Pulls down a menu enabling the user to change the display base for the object highlighted by the cursor :

Error messages
This section describes the possible causes of each error message, and the corrective action required to continue using VISUDYN.
Message
"Incomplete selection" in the screen described in section 3.5-1.
"Object unknown" in the screen described in section
3.5-2.
"Incorrect version of cross-
reference files" in the screen described in section 3.5-2.
Possible Cause(s) Corrective Action
Your selection is incomplete, an element is missing from the selection.
The object entered does not exist in the cross-reference files.
The object syntax is incorrect.
Press <Esc>, then complete the selection.
Press <Esc> to re-enter the object or press <Esc> twice to return to the previous screen.
The cross-references files are not up to date in relation to the application loaded in the PLC.
Press <Esc>, and update the cross-reference files (see section 2.2-4).
"Cross-reference file un-
readable" in the screen described in section 3.5-2.
"PLC already reserved" in the equation display screens.
The cross-references files are not present in the cartridge.
Press <Esc> to deactivate the task. Repeat the configuration procedure.
VISUDYN reserves the PL7-3 area during the initialization and decompilation phases. If during one of these phases another package also reserves PL7-3, a reservation conflict occurs.
Two possible choices :
1. Free the reservation of the application (see section 4.2).
Press <F1> (Repeat).
2. Press <F9> (End Task) to stop the task immediately.
The task must be restarted before any subsequent use
(see section 3.1).
"The PL7-3 application has been modified, Enter <F1> to restart VISUDYN or <F9> to end task".
"Exchange refused".
The PL7-3 application was modified while VISUDYN was in use.
Press <F1> to restart
VISUDYN on the new application or<F9> to stop the task.
Communication problem in the
PLC.
Press <F9> to stop the task or <Esc> to return to the calling screen. Restart
VISUDYN, from the RUN
MANAGER (see section

Information on PLC reservation
To read information on the PL7-3 application stored in the PLC memory, the PL7-3 application must be reserved.
This reservation is effective in the following cases :
1
During the VISUDYN initialization phase
If the application is already reserved when initialization starts, the VISUDYN task is deactivated. The error message "VISUDYN-ERR-RESERVED" is displayed on the
Run Manager screen.
2 When VISUDYN is in the foreground
In the foreground, VISUDYN minimizes the PLC application reservation periods
(only during decompilation of equations), so that the user is able to use a development tool which works on the PLC memory (for example PL7-3 under X-TEL,
XTEL-CONTROL, etc).
If a reservation error is indicated, the user can :
• repeat the reservation request by pressing <F1> (the other tool cancels the reservation)
• exit the VISUDYN task by pressing <F9> and return to the Run Manager.

Checking modifications to the PL7-3 application
Each time an equation is read, VISUDYN checks that the monitored application has not been modified. If VISUDYN detects a modification to the application, the message "The
PL7-3 application has been modified, press <F1> to restart VISUDYN or <F9> to
end task" is displayed, and the user can automatically restart the VISUDYN task or confirm its deactivation.
