About This Guide
This guide describes how to install and maintain the Avaya 1600 Series IP Deskphone product line and troubleshoot telephone problems.
The 1600 Series IP Deskphone product line supports only the H.323 signaling protocol and work with Avaya Aura™ Communication Manager Release 3.0 or later call servers and Avaya
Aura Communication Manager Branch Release 1.1 or later call servers. (Avaya Aura
Communication Manager was formerly known as Avaya Distributed Office.)

Unless otherwise indicated, generic references in this document to a server can apply to DEFINITY
®
servers, MultiVantage servers, Avaya Aura Communication
Manager media servers, or Avaya Aura Communication Manager Branch systems.

This document is intended for personnel who install and administer the 1600 Series IP
Deskphones.

Avaya does not support many of the products mentioned in this document. Take care to ensure that there is adequate technical support available for the servers involved, including, but not necessarily limited to, HTTP, HTTPS, and DHCP servers. If the servers are not functioning correctly, the IP telephones might not be able to operate correctly.
