Maintenance
10.6.1
This is possible for special applications (such as measuring vapours).
Operation without the sensor membrane permits faster reaction of the
IR sensor.
!
Operation without the sensor membrane
CAUTION
The degree of protection (IP class) is reduced when the instrument is operated without the sensor membrane.
The instrument is then only splashproof.
10.7.1
Replacement of the NiMH power pack
Power packs are delivered fully charged and can be installed as a direct replacement for an exhausted power pack.
If necessary, the power pack must be charged before use.
10.7
Changing the power pack
Changing the NiMH power pack can be carried out in Ex-areas.
After changing the power pack:
All data are retained during replacement of the power pack.
The electro-chemical sensors are still supplied with power.
If the power pack is disconnected from the instrument for a long period, the sensors warm up when the power pack is connected again.
Disposal of exhausted power packs
!
WARNING
Explosion hazard!
Do not change the batteries or Alkaline Battery Pack underground or in explosion-hazard areas.
It is not permitted for batteries to be disposed of without household waste. They are therefore marked with the symbol opposite. Collect and dispose of batteries and rechargeable batteries at battery collection centres, in accordance with applicable regulations.
Do not throw used batteries into fire or try to open them
force.
Switch off the instrument.
1 Loosen the two screws on the bottom of the instrument.
Pull the power pack out of the instrument.
Insert the new power pack into the Dräger X-am 7000.
1 Tighten the two screws on the bottom of the instrument.
