Hitachi Device Manager Error Codes

4-1

Details About Lightning 9900V series Messages

Some messages displayed by Device Manager contain, as a part of the message, a message output from the storage subsystem. This section lists and describes the error messages from the Lightning 9900V series that are contained in Hitachi Device Manager messages.

If you are unable to resolve the conditions of an error, see

Calling the Hitachi

Data Systems Support Center for instructions on calling the Hitachi Data

Systems Support Center.

When a Device Manager message contains a message from the Lightning

9900V series, the Device Manager displays two types of error code identifying

the Lightning 9900V messages and the message text. Table 4-1 lists and

describes the Lightning 9900V messages that are displayed by Hitachi Device

Manager.

Note: The list of messages below shows error codes 1 and 2, separated by a comma. The asterisk ("*") indicates that the error code output varies. If a displayed error code does not match any of the codes listed below, see the explanation for the message labeled *,*.

Description

When specifying the Customized Volume, you have specified the size that is outside the legal value range. (The value specified is either less than the minimum value or greater than the maximum value.)

There is not enough space left in the

Logical Parity Group to create a CV.

Recommended Action

Note that the legal value range may differ depending on the emulation type of the target volume.

You have specified emulation types for CV that cannot be used together. Or, you have specified the emulation types that are not supported.

When you perform CVS operations, you cannot specify for the following volumes.

1. The volumes to which LU Path is set. 2.

The volumes which are connected as an expanded LU. 3. The volumes where LDEV

Security is set.

An internal logical error has occurred.

The CU number or the LDEV number specified in the CVS operation is already used by other volumes.

You have instructed to perform an CVS operation on a Logical Parity Group which has not been implemented.

When you performed a CVS operation

(Volume Initialize), the number of volumes to be returned to Normal

Volumes and the number of volumes requested by Volume Initialize were not the same.

The specified Subsystem ID already exists.

When you performed a CVS operation

(Volume Initialize), you did not specify a

CV within the Logical Parity Group.

When you change the configuration for a

LUSE, you cannot specify for the following volumes. 1. HIHSM (hierarchy control function) Reserve volumes 2. "On-

Demand" volumes

You have specified an incorrect emulation type in the CVS operation.

You have set LUN Management Function

(LUN Security) for a Port that is not a

Fibre Port.

You have attempted to perform a LUN

Security operation on the Port for which

LUN Security Function is disabled.

When you specify the value, consider the fact that the number of LDEVs that can be stored in a

Parity Group may vary depending on a Drive Type and a RAID Type.

For more details, contact the

Support Center.

Since each emulation type has a different definition, contact the

Support Center for more details.
