Changing the default settings of the amplifier
Change settings according to the connected speakers.

If the right surround speaker is 10 feet (3.3 m) away from the listening position, change settings as shown below (adjust the SR).

1 In "Speaker delay setting", set the right surround speaker (SR) to 10 feet (3.3 m).
2 In "Speaker level setting", slightly increase the level of the right surround speaker as it is a little farther than others (see page 48).

" The subwoofer setting applies to a subwoofer connected to SUBWOOFER PRE
OUT.
" You cannot change the default settings while playing SACD/DVD-Audio discs.

Speaker size setting
You can change the sizes of the front speakers, center speaker, and surround speakers, or turn on or off the center speaker, surround speakers, or subwoofer.

Set the MODE 1/MODE 2 switch to MODE 2 and press the AMP SET
UP button.

Within 10 seconds, press the or button to select "SP SIZE", and press the ENTER button.

Within 10 seconds, press the or button to select the desired speaker.
The indicators of selected speakers flash.

When you select "LARGE", all channel signals are sent to the speaker.
When you select "SMALL", frequencies below the value you set for crossover frequency (see page 49) are sent to the subwoofer.

Notes:
" The speaker size setting is only available for the subwoofer if the input is set to tuner, or the surround is "STEREO" or "VIRTUAL".
" On some DVD-Audio or SACD discs, the subwoofer may not produce sound even if the speaker size is set to "SMALL".
" "F-SMALL" and "SW-NO" cannot be combined. If the subwoofer is changed to
"SW-NO" while the front speakers are set to "F-SMALL", they are changed to "F-
LARGE". When the front speakers are changed to "F-SMALL" while the subwoofer is set to "SW-NO", it is changed to "SW-YES".
" If "LARGE" is set for a small speaker, malfunction may result. Be sure to set the speaker size to "SMALL".
" When the center and surround speakers and subwoofer are not connected, set the speaker size to "C-NO", "S-NO" and "SW-NO". Otherwise, the protection circuit may be activated and the power is turned off.

Speaker delay setting
When some of the speakers are at a different distance from the listening point, you can select the speaker delay to make it seem as though the speaker distances are the same.

Set the MODE 1/MODE 2 switch to MODE 2 and press the AMP SET
UP button.

Within 10 seconds, press the or button to select "SP DELAY", and press the ENTER button.

Within 30 seconds, press the or button to select the desired speaker.
The indicator of the selected speaker flashes.

Within 30 seconds, press the or button to select the distance.
" You can change the distance in 1 foot (0.3 m) steps.
" To set the distance of other speakers, repeat the operation from step 3.

Press the RETURN button twice.
The setting is complete.

Speaker level setting
If sounds from the speakers are uneven, you can equalize them by adjusting the speaker levels.

Set the MODE 1/MODE 2 switch to MODE 2 and press the AMP SET
UP button.

Within 10 seconds, press the or button to select "SP LEVEL", and press the ENTER button.

Within 10 seconds, press the or button to select the desired speaker.
The indicator of the selected speaker flashes.

Within 10 seconds, press the or button to adjust the level.
" You can adjust the level at 1 dB intervals.
" To adjust the levels of other speakers, repeat the operation from step 3.

You can check each speaker sound by a test tone. Readjust the volume set in
"Speaker level setting".
