1 s afety regulations

Assembly, installation and servicing should be carried out by authorised

electricians.

• Observe the safety regulations and notes in the assembly instructions for the cassettes and head-end station used as well as the relevant safety instructions e.g the standards EN/DIN EN 50083 resp. IEC/EN/DIN EN 60728.

Take action to prevent static discharge when working on the device!

2.4 d esCriPtion

The RLC 8 Management System will be connected to a PC or a network via the

LAN interface and enables communication between the PC and the connected head-end stations (LAN <-> 8 x RS232). Therefore the Windows software

PSW 1000 ist needed.

A connection to the Internet (and thereby remote control) is possible via a router.

Hardware concept:

- 5 - RLC 8

The basic units can be configured and remote controlled via Ethernet with software PSW 1000.

The most current version can be downloaded from "www.mygss.eu".

A key code (activation code) is required for the activation of the PSW 1000 software.

This can be obtained from your regional authorised distributor.

The RLC 8 has 8 RS-232 interfaces (Sub D connectors/male) to connect up to

8 headend stations (control units "BE-Remote") to a PC/network. The monitoring cassette PSCU 6000/HSCU 6000 is also supported.

Error messages from the PSCU 6000/HSCU 6000 monitoring cassette can be forwarded by e-mail.

Required index levels for remote control and remote updates:

– PSW 1000 index level: ≥ V65

– BE-Remote index level: ≥ V45

2.5 PC / l aPtoP system requirements

System requirements for the PSW 1000 software:

– PC or laptop with a Pentium processor,

– Windows 95*/98*/ME/2000/Vista/7 (*from Internet Explorer 5 on),

– At least 32 MB RAM, at least 50 MB free space on hard drive,

– LAN interface (RJ 45 socket)

– Internet access for downloads and remote maintenance.

3 i nstallation

– The device should only be installed in a room where the permissible ambient temperature range (0 °C … +40 °C ) can be maintained, even during fluctuations in climatic conditions.

– Mount the device on a non-combustible base.

– Use mounting material suitable for the wall properties.

• Attach four mounting screws at the installation site. The drilling distances are shown in the drawing below.

1 2 1

218 mm

• Hang the unit with the mounting supports 1 on the 4 screws

• Tighten the screws.

3.1 P otential equalisation

(Pe)

Make a potential equalisation (PE) according to IEC/EN/DIN EN 50083 resp.

IEC/EN/DIN EN 60728.

• Connect the PE connection terminal 2 to a PE rail (supplied by customer) using a PE wire (Cu 4mm2 - 9mm2).

• Firmly close the sliders on the blade contacts.

3.3 C onneCting ComPonents

• Connect up to 8 head-end stations (7 head-end stations/1 monitoring cassettes PSCU 6000/HSCU 6000) to the RS-232 interfaces made 1:1 RS-232 cables.

5 C onneCting to a network

5.1 lan

Configur ation

The "static" (fixed) IP address 192.168.0.120 and Port 60002 is set to the

RLC 8.

If another IP address range is used in your network or this IP address is already in use, first the IP address of the RLC 8 must be changed. If several RLC 8 are used in the network, different IP addresses must be assigned for the RLCs:

• Set a static IP address to your PC which is in the address range of the RLC

8 (e.g. 192.168.0.2).

• Connect your PC directly to the RLC 8 via a LAN cable.

• Start any internet browser.

• Enter the IP address of the RLC 8 (http://192.168.0.120) at the address line of the browser and press the "Enter" button:

• Enter the user name "admin" and the password ("geheim" is the standard value) and click the "Login" button.

- 14 - RLC 8

• Enter the settings necessary for your network.

Use only ports in the range of 35000 – 60100 or 61000 – 65000!

On request change the password.

Note the settings!

• Click the "Apply" button in order to save the changes.

The changed settings are transmitted to the RLC 8.

The RLC 8 will be rebooted.

Now the RLC 8 is configured for your LAN network.

• Disconnect the LAN connection to your PC.

• Connect the RLC 8 to your network.

- 15 - RLC 8

7 r emote aCCess via

i nternet

To get remote access via internet the router connected to the RLC 8 must be connected to the internet. In addition the "public" IP address with which the router is connected to the internet must be known.

—> Therefore you either need a "fixed", "static" public IP address, or a DNS account which you can get from respective providers of dynamic DNS services (e.g. DynDNS.com).

For remote maintenance via internet "Port Forwarding" must be configured at the router.

—> Pay attention for the operating instruction of the router.

—> If several RLC 8 are used, for each port used "Port Forwarding" must be configured.

—> To get remote access via internet you need a PC with internet access

• Start the PSW 1000 software.

—> The installation of the PSW 1000 software is described in chapter
