Erasing Images

You can either select and erase unnecessary images one by one or

erase them in one batch. Protected images (p.334) will not be erased.

Once an image is erased, it cannot be recovered. Make sure you no longer need the image before erasing it. To prevent important images from being erased accidentally, protect them. Erasing a

RAW+JPEG image will erase both the RAW and JPEG images.

Erasing a Single Image

Play back the image to be erased.

Press the <

L

> button.

X The Erase menu will appear.

Erase the image.

Select [ Erase ], then press < 0 >. The image displayed will be erased.

Setting [ 8 3: Default Erase option ] to [ [Erase] selected ] makes it faster to

erase images (p.412).

] Images to Be Erased in a Batch

By appending checkmarks < X > to the images to be erased, you can erase multiple images at once.

Select [Erase images].

Under the [ 3 1 ] tab, select [ Erase images ], then press < 0 >.

Select [Select and erase images].

X An image will be displayed.

If you press the < u > button and turn the < 6 > dial counterclockwise, you can select an image from a threeimage display. To return to the singleimage display, turn the < 6 > dial clockwise.

Select the images to be erased.

Turn the < 5 > dial to select the image to be erased, then press < 0 >.

X A checkmark [ X ] will be displayed on the upper left of the screen.

To select other images to be erased, repeat step 3.

Erase the image.

Press the < L > button, then press

[ OK ].

X The selected images will be erased in one batch.

Erasing All Images in a Folder or on a Card

You can erase all the images in a folder or on a card at once. When

[ 3 1: Erase images ] is set to [ All images in folder ] or [ All images on card ], all the images in the folder or on the card will be erased.

To erase all images, including protected images, format the card (p.67).

The images on the card selected for [ Record/play ] or [ Playback ] under

[ 5 1: Record func+card/folder sel.

] will be erased.
