Editing a region you specify (Sequence Editing)

In the SEQUENCE EDIT screen, you can edit the performance data (MIDI events, audio events, pattern events) in the specified track number or region.

In the SEQUENCE EDIT screen, the commands that are available for you to execute will depend on the type

of track you’ve selected for editing. The “List of available editing commands” (p. 187) uses the following icons

to distinguish these commands.

Commands that can be executed on a MIDI track.

Commands that can be executed on an audio track.

Commands that can be executed on the pattern track.

1.

Access the SONG screen (Screen Guide; p. 8) or the PATTERN screen (Screen Guide; p. 91).

2.

Press [F5](Seq Edit).

The SEQUENCE EDIT screen (Screen Guide; p. 31) will appear.

3.

Move the cursor to the track that you want to edit, and press [F1](Track Sel).

A

■ (white) symbol will be added to the track number, indicating that this track is selected for editing. You can select more than one track for editing — simply repeat step 3.

4.

Move the current time location to the beginning of the region that you want to edit, and press [F3](Rgn In/Out).

This specifies the beginning of the editing region.

5.

Move the current time location to the end of the region that you want to edit, and press

[F3](Rgn In/Out).

This specifies the end of the editing region. Your editing operations will apply to the region between the In and

Out points you specified in steps 4 and 5.

Press [F5](Command).

The SELECT SEQUENCE EDIT COMMAND popup (Screen Guide; p. 34) will appear.

The list of editing commands will differ according to the screen that is displayed. For a list of the available

commands, refer to “List of available editing commands” (p. 187).

Use the cursor to select a command, and press [F5](Select).

A popup that lets you specify the editing parameters for each command will appear.

If you selected the Erase or Cut command, the operation will be executed in step 7. Steps 8 and 9 are not necessary.

8.

Set the parameters for the selected command. (If you’re executing the Erase or Cut command, there are no parameters to set.)

If you decide to leave an edit screen without executing, press [EXIT].

9.

Press [F5](Execute).

The sequence editing command will be executed.

If you’re not satisfied with the results of your editing, you can press [UNDO/REDO] to return to the state prior to

editing. For details on the Undo function, refer to “Undoing a recording or editing operation (Undo/Redo)” (p.

166).

Selecting a region quickly (Quick Region)

The Quick Region function lets you quickly select an editing region for the current track.

You can’t execute Quick region on more than one track. However, after using Quick Region to select a region, then press [F2](All Track Sel), you can select that region across all tracks.

1.

Access the SONG screen (Screen Guide; p. 8) or the PATTERN screen (Screen Guide; p. 91).

2.

Press [F5](Seq Edit).

3.

Move the cursor to a track that contains the events you want to region-select, making it the current track.

4.

Move the time so that the current time intersects the events you want to region-select.

This determines the events that will be edited.

5.

Press [F4](Quick Rgn).

The events will be highlighted and selected.

Explanation

From the beginning to the end of the current measure or current beat of the current track will be selected (i.e., one measure).

If there is an audio / pattern event at the current time in the current track, that single audio / pattern event will be selected. The length selected will be the single audio / pattern event located at the current time. If there is no audio / pattern events at the current time in the current track, from the beginning to the end of the current measure or current beat will be selected.

Inserting blank measures at the specified time (Insert Measure)

Here’s how to insert blank measures at the specified measure location.

1.

Access the SONG screen (Screen Guide; p. 8) or the PATTERN screen (Screen Guide; p. 91).

2.

Press [F5](Seq Edit).

The SEQUENCE EDIT screen (Screen Guide; p. 31) will appear.

3.

Use MEAS [ ] [ ] to move the current time you want to insert blank measures.

4.

Press [MENU].

The MENU popup will appear.

5.

Select “Insert Measure” and press [F5](Select).

The INSERT MEASURE popup will appear.

Specify the measure number at which you want to insert blank measures, and the desired number of measures.

To

Specify the insert-destination measure number.

For

Specify the number of blank measures you want to insert.

Time Signature

Specify the time signature of the measures you want to insert.

If you want the tempo track settings, marker settings, and locator settings for time locations following the inserted blank measures to be moved backward as well, select the Tempo, Marker, and/or Locator check boxes.

7.

Press [F5](Execute).

The blank measures will be inserted.

Deleting specified measures (Delete Measure)

1.

Access the SONG screen (Screen Guide; p. 8) or the PATTERN screen (Screen Guide; p. 91).

2.

Press [F5](Seq Edit).

The SEQUENCE EDIT screen (Screen Guide; p. 31) will appear.

3.

Press [MENU].

The MENU popup will appear.

4.

Select “Delete Measure...” and press [F5](Select).

The DELETE MEASURE popup (Screen Guide; p. 65) will appear.

Specify the measure at which you want to begin deleting, and the number of measures to be deleted.

From

Specify the measure number at which you want to delete measures.

Length

Specify the number of measures you want to delete.

If you want the tempo track settings, marker settings, and locator settings that follow the region of deleted measures to be moved forward accordingly, select the Tempo Track, Marker, and/or Locator check boxes.

In Pattern mode you won’t be able to specify the Tempo Track, Marker, and Locator options.

6.

Press [F5](Execute).

The region of measures you’ve specified will be deleted.

Pasting the performance data of a pattern into a song

Here’s how the contents of the performance data you registered as a pattern can be pasted into a current song.

1.

Press [SONG].

The SONG screen (Screen Guide; p. 8) will appear.

2.

Press [F5](Seq Edit).

The SEQUENCE EDIT screen (Screen Guide; p. 31) will appear.

3.

Use MEAS [ ] [ ] to move the current time you want to paste performance data of pattern.

4.

Press [MENU].

The MENU popup will appear.

5.

Select “Paste Pattern...” and press [F5](Select).

The PASTE PATTERN popup (Screen Guide; p. 106) will appear.

You can hold down [F4](Preview) to audition the pattern at which the cursor is located.

Use CURSOR [ ] [ ] to select the pattern that you want to paste, and press

[F5](Select).

The TRACK REMAP popup (Screen Guide; p. 107) will appear.

7.

Specify the song track to which each pattern track will be pasted.

The left column shows the tracks used in the pattern.

The right column lets you specify the song track to which each pattern track will be pasted.

8.

Press [F5](Execute).
