Keep it away from heat sources (e.g. electric stove), high temperatures and direct sunlight. • Do not place the kettle near wa­ ters sources like basins. • Do not tough the kettle with wet hands. • Do prevent the unit from drop­ ping over, make sure that the support surface is stable. Before using the product for the first time, please read this manual carefully to ensure your ong-term enjoyment of this product. For future reference, please keep this manual. Before using the delivered product, check that it is com­ plete, faultless and undamaged. 1. Initial start-up When the device is put into operation for the first time, check the intactness of the product or components and their function again. Please remove the kettle and the heating element from the packing and clean the unit with a damp cloth. Af­ terwards connect the kettle only to a properly installed grounded socket. Before regular use, fill the water reservoir with cold water to its maximum level and boil according the following instructions. Thereafter discard the water in order to re­ move any residues of the production process. 5. Handling Press the opening button to open the cover. Then fill the Arendo kettle with cold water and close the cover by pressing down the cover until it locks. Important note: Please make sure not to fill in more than the maximum level of 1,7 l as marked on the scale, which is located on the right inner side.Place the kettle on to the bottom heating and set the On/Off button downwards to heat the water. As soon as the target temperature has been reached, the kettle will automatically turn off. 6. Decaling and cleaning We recommend decalcifying the kettle in regular intervals, depending on the intensity of use. Before cleaning, it is essential to remove the power plug from the socket and wait until the device is completely cooled down. Only use convention­ al decaling agents based on citric acid. Please follow the manufacturer´s instruc­ tions for dosing the respective product you have chosen. The heating element must not be cleaned and never be processed with sharp or hard objects. For cleaning the outer surface of the kettle, only use a damp cloth. Never use hard or abrasive objects like a wire brush or a steel-sponge for cleaning. Please do not use any aggressive cleaning agents which could be harmful for human consumption or damage the surface. To avoid the risk of electric shock, never immerse the device, the power cord or the plug in water or other liquids. 52 English 7. Safety instructions and disclaimer Do not attempt to service this product by yourself as opening or removing covers may result in fire, electric shock or equipment damage. The kettle is only discon­ nected from the voltage system when the plug has been removed from the socket. Please avoid any contact to the electric current. Pull out the plug before lightning storms or if you do not regularly use this product, to prevent a short- circuit. This device is only licensed for indoor use and dry areas. Please protect it from water, rain, snow or high humidity and keep it away from high temperatures and direct sunlight. Do not expose this product to extreme and sudden changes of temperature or heavy vibrations; this may lead to damage of the internal electronic part of this unit. Check kettle for signs of damage before putting it in operation. In case the de­ vice received any damage, it should not be used. Please contact our customer sup­ port.Please observe the relevant national provisions and legal restrictions. Do not use the device for anything other than intended and as described in the manual. Any attempt of repairs or alterations by someone other than the original supplier will invalidate the guarantee and result in refusal of warranty claims. The machine may only be used by persons who are familiar with the operating manual and the applicable regulations concerning working safety and accident pre­ vention. This device is not intended to be used by persons (including children) with limited physical, sensory or mental aptitude or lack of experience and/or knowl­ edge unless they are supervised by a person responsible for their safety or have received instructions as to how the device is used properly. Disposal Instructions The European Directive (WEEE) requires that old electrical and electronic appliances shall be disposed of separately from normal household garbage for optimal recycling. The component parts must be separated, collected and sent for recycling or disposal in an environment-friendly manner. Otherwise, toxic and dangerous substances could cause enduring damage to the environment if disposed of incorrectly.
