Cause

The time remaining on the music server is shorter than the disc or tracks to be recorded.

The CD’s TOC is unreadable.

You try to record more than

400 tracks in a single playlist file.

Remedy

Erase unwanted tracks.

Replace disc.

Cancel record standby.

Note:

• Should any other error messages appear, refer to “Understanding music server error messages” on page 79.

• The TOC (Table of Contents) consists of information other than the audio signal—such as the number of recorded tracks, playing time and title—on CD and MD discs, etc.

• The FAT (File Allocation Table) defines the parameters for managing music data and playlist files on the music server and “Memory Stick”, etc.

Cause

There is something wrong with the “Memory Stick”.

The “Memory Stick” has been inserted upside-down or backto-front.

Electrical or mechanical problem.

Somehow the track information was not written correctly.

The music data cannot be played back.

The music data has exceeded the playback limit (playback time or number of plays).

A “Memory Stick” other than an

“MG Memory Stick” is inserted.

A “Memory Stick” formatted in such a way as to be unable to be played back in this product is inserted (such as a “Memory

Stick” formatted on a PC).

Remedy

Replace the “Memory Stick”.

Remove “Memory Stick”, align correctly and reinsert. If message reappears, replace the “Memory

Stick”.

Turn the car ignition ON and OFF, or switch to a different source, then switch back to the “Memory Stick” player.

Repeat operation. If message reappears, replace the “Memory

Stick”.

Switch to other music data.

Switch to other music data.

Replace the “MG Memory Stick”.

Remove the “Memory Stick” and insert it again. If message reappears, replace the “Memory Stick”.

The erasure prevention switch is set to LOCK.

A “MG Memory Stick” with no music data on it has been inserted, or a “Memory Stick” other than a “MG Memory

There is insufficient empty space on the “Memory Stick”.

Somehow track information was not read in correctly.

There is something wrong with the “Memory Stick”.

You try to check out more than

400 tracks. (The “Memory

Stick” can only record up to

400 tracks.)

There is no playback permission for music data procured by electronic distribution, such as over the Internet.

Checked in music data is erased from music server.

Remedy

Cancel the erasure prevention switch.

Insert a “MG Memory Stick” with music data on it.

Insert the “Memory Stick.”

Replace the “Memory Stick” or erase unwanted music data.

Remove the “Memory Stick” and insert it again. If message reappears, replace the “Memory Stick”.

Erase unwanted tracks or if possible, use the check in function.

Switch to other music data.

If music data checked out from this product is deleted, it cannot be checked in to this product.
