Using a PC to Switch Between Satellites

The following instructions explain how to use a PC to switch between satellites. This procedure requires a PC with Windows

®

HyperTerminal and a straight serial data cable.

TIP: If you are a KVH-authorized technician, you can use the KVH Flash

Update Wizard instead of HyperTerminal. Commands can be typed into the wizard’s “Antenna Comms” window. You do not need to flash the antenna to enter commands.

1. Connect a PC to the maintenance port, as described in

“Connecting a PC to the Maintenance Port” on page 55

.

Then type the following commands in the

HyperTerminal window.

2a. To switch to Satellite A, type the following command in the HyperTerminal window then press Enter.

@L,A

2b. To switch to Satellite B, type the following command in the HyperTerminal window then press Enter.

@L,B

3. The antenna shifts to track the second satellite.
