Creating Groups

A group is a collection of entities that AutoSketch treats as a single entity.

Groups are useful for organizing the entities in your drawing into collections, or groups, that can be selected at once. For instance, in an office layout drawing, you could group all of the symbols and entities in each office into a single group then select, move, rotate, or copy them as one entity.

Groups have many of the same features of symbols:

Entities within the group can still be individually selected as references for snaps or drawing operations such as Duplicate Offset or Perpendicular

Polyline.

Transform operations such as Move, Scale, or Align, affect all members in a group.

Unlike a symbol, a group is not named or saved in libraries, and you cannot use the Dropper tool or perform Trim or Database operations on groups. Also unlike a symbol, changing pen color (or other graphic properties) on the property bar permanently affects all members in a group.

You can ungroup groups by using the Explode command. Entities from exploded groups retain the graphic properties they were assigned while grouped. Otherwise, they retain their original properties.

To create a group

1 Select the entities you want to group.

2 Right-click, then click Group on the pop-up menu that appears, or click the Group button on the edit bar.
