Calculated Values

Instead of entering a constant value in a field, you can assign it a calculated

value. AutoSketch updates the calculated value each time the drawing changes. For example, the calculated value “%Length” returns the length of a line, arc, circle, polyline, or polygon and stores the length in the field. If you change the length of that entity, AutoSketch instantly updates the calculated value assigned to that entity. If that field is visible, you can see the change.

You enter a calculated value just as you would any other value. AutoSketch returns the text or numbers to the field automatically. There are specific calculated values for the five different field types. AutoSketch ignores the calculated value if the field type is not correct, for example if %Length is used in a string field.

NOTE Dimensions and text entities cannot have fields assigned to them.
