Installing the battery pack
To install a battery pack, follow the steps below.
The battery pack is a lithium ion battery, which can explode if not properly replaced, used, handled or disposed of. Dispose of the battery as required by local ordinances or regulations. Use only batteries recommended by
TOSHIBA as replacements.
1. Be sure the computer’s power is off and all cables are disconnected.
2. Insert the battery pack.

3. Push the battery pack until it is firmly seated.
Starting the computer by password
If you have already registered a password, there is one way to start the computer:
■ Enter the password manually.
To start up the computer with the user password, follow these steps:
1. Turn on the power as described in Chapter 3,
The following message appears:
Password =
At this point, the hot keys Fn + F1 to F9 do not work. They will function after you enter the password.
2. Enter the password.
3. Press Enter.
If you enter the password incorrectly three times in a row, the computer shuts off. In this case, you must turn the computer back on to retry password entry.
