notes discussion
n
An unqualified ADIR command displays the current alternate directory setting.
n
The initial ADIR value is INFOSYS n
INFO does not validate the legality of the system directory name when you change the ADIR setting.
n
Once the ADIR setting is changed from its default value, you must use the ADIR command to set INFOSYS as the alternate directory for INFO's HELP command to operate.
n
If you quit an INFO session and enter another user name in response to the ENTER USER NAME> prompt instead of STOP, ADIR is not reset to INFOSYS.
n
Be aware that shared use of an ADIR setting among simultaneous INFO users can cause file access problems in some situations.
With the ADIR command, you can specify an alternate system directory in which INFO files can be found during an INFO session. If properly prepared, INFO automatically searches for files in the alternate system directory when it cannot find the file in your user area.
You can also use the ADIR command to name a system directory for a subsequent TAKE command to search for a user area and file. See the TAKE command for more information.
