Appendix G Controlling Default Assignments
When INFO is not in use, INFO's message file stores several pieces of information, called settings, that are available to you when using INFO. You can change a setting by using one of INFO's setting commands. The table below lists the INFO settings that reside in the INFO message file and the INFO command used to change that setting.
There are three different effects possible when you change an INFO setting. You may change the default values of
INFO settings either for system-wide use, for your individual use and retaining the setting values between sessions, or for your current INFO session. Each of these is described below.
System-wide changes
You can change the system-wide default setting values for the settings in the table below by following the steps below. The new default values apply to all INFO users on your system and are retained across all INFO sessions.
n
Attach to the INFOSYS directory n
Invoke INFO with username RE9 n
Enter an appropriate command (ADIR, ARET, etc.) to define the override setting

You can make a temporary change to an INFO setting from within a program or interactive session by entering the appropriate INFO setting command to change a setting. The new setting will apply only for the duration of the session (or until the next command to change the setting). You can change settings temporarily, regardless of which copy of the INFO message file is in use.
