copies data files, reports, programs, or forms from another INFO user area into your current INFO user area.
arguments notes
FROM is used only for documentation or ease of understanding.
REV8 specifies that the source INFO directory is in INFO revision 8 format.
REV9 specifies that the source INFO directory is in INFO revision 9 format.
ARC7 specifies that the source INFO directory is in INFO
ARC7 compatible format.
DATA copies the data as well as the template of the specified data file.
user_name the 3 to 8-character name of the other user area.
file_name_1,... you can specify one or many files to be copied, or all files.
* copies all files from the named INFO user directory into your INFO user directory.
n
Do not confuse TAKE with the COPY or MODIFY commands; COPY duplicates only an existing INFO nondata file within a user area and renames it. MODIFY copies only the template of a data file to another file in your user area and assigns it a new name.
n
If the INFO user name specified is not in your current system directory, use the ADIR command to assign the proper system directory before issuing the TAKE command. See the ADIR command for information about changing the ADIR setting.

TAKE discussion example
n
If you wish to TAKE files from an INFO user name resident in another system directory, but that INFO user name also exists in your current system directory, you will need to temporarily rename the local INFO DR9 file.
With the TAKE command, INFO copies data file templates, reports, forms or programs into your current user area from another INFO user area.
In the case of data files, only the template is copied unless you include the DATA option to copy the records also.
(See the GET and EXTERNAL commands for more information about accessing data from another user's data file.) If a data file is protected, you must provide the control-level password before INFO copies that data file.
See the PROTECT and PASSWORD commands for information about providing passwords for protected files.
If the name of a file requested from the other user area already exists in your INFO user area, INFO does not take the file, but issues an error message and continues processing any remaining files specified in the TAKE command.
The following example copies the data file D.EMPS with its records, the program P.EMPS, and the input forms
I.EMPS from an INFO directory associated with the user
PKS into your INFO directory.
