executes a DICTIONARY command whose parameters are held in a character variable.
arguments
item-1 Character item containing the DICTIONARY parameters
item-2 Numeric item to receive the returned error code:-
0 = DICTIONARY successful
1 = DICTIONARY not successful
error messages
INVALID SOURCE ITEM item-1 must be type C
ITEM NAME OR LITERAL MUST BE SPECIFIED item-1 or item-2 has been omitted

The example below checks if there are any terms beginning with Omega in the dictionary of the selected extended text file:
FORMAT $CHR1,10,C
FORMAT $NUM30,1,I
$CHR1 = ‘Omega\’
XDIC $CHR1 $NUM30
IF $NUM30 NE 0
DISPLAY ‘No matching results for DICTIONARY command’
