GVGE
T item-1 item-2 [item-3]
allows user to get the contents of an external variable: ie.
environment variable (Unix), logical (VMS) or global variable
(Prime).
arguments
item-1 character constant or internal variable containing the name of the logical or variable.
item-2 character internal variable to receive the value from the logical or variable.
item-3 (VMS only) character constant or internal variable containing the name of the table from which to get the logical. The default is the LNM$PROCESS table.
error response
INVALID SYNTAX item of wrong type or not an internal variable

VMS: GVGET ‘printername’ $CHR1 ‘LNM$GROUP’
Prime: GVGET ‘printername’ $CHR1
The value of the variable ‘printername’ will be returned to
$CHR1.
