an unqualified SPOOL command prints the current INFO spool or output file and once this file has been printed, INFO empties it.
arguments notes
filename is a 1- to 255-character name of the INFO spool file or the operating system file that you want to print.
-NOFTN will not treat Fortran control characters as such, but as printable characters. e.g. 1 in column 1 will print as
1 rather than advancing to a new page.
lpr -option is any valid lpr option.

There are two environment variables that can be used in conjunction with the SPOOL command :
_INFOSPL When set to a Unix command, it will replace the default Unix command lp. It could be set, for example, to the more command for generating screen reports.
_INFOSPLEX Used in conjunction with _INFOSPL, it can be set to any filter commands that come after the filename. For example if _INFOSPL were set to the unix cat command, you could subsequently set _INFOSPLEX to "> /tmp/tempfile.”.
