Note that there are two special terminal types for hard copy terminals: NONE and HARD. NONE is used for hard copy terminals that have no form-feed capability.
HARD is used for hard copy terminals that do have formfeed capability.
Table TERMINAL-1 below lists the terminal types recognized by INFO.
When your terminal setting agrees with your actual terminal type, INPUT FORM and other commands that can clear the terminal screen or position the terminal screen cursor execute correctly.
If you want to change the default TERMINAL setting, see
Appendix G Controlling Default Assignments for more information.
For sites with multiple terminal types, either hard-wired or connected via a communications port contention unit, terminals can be specified in the USERTERMS file. they can be entered either explicitly by terminal type and user number, or as terminal type VARIABLE and user number, in which case the user will be prompted each time INFO is invoked, or as a terminal type LOGICAL, in which case the terminal type will be resolved to the INFOTERM external variable.
Note: For this option to work, the Doric Terminal option must have been selected when INFO was installed. For unix, see INFO invoking options in ‘starting INFO’ in the
Introduction.
